Avander Candle Studio was established in early 2020 after I developed a hobby into a small business. I run my small business alongside working part time in my role as a senior leader in primary school as well as raising my young family. I design, make, advertise and sell my products all by myself from my small studio space in Sheffield. I have always been a candle lover and have tried and tested just about every luxury candle brand on the market but never been completely satisfied with the quality. Candle making involves a complicated testing process so I set about testing various combinations to create a high quality, natural candle with a beautiful burn and excellent cold and hot scent throw.

I feel passionate about creating a natural product that is kind to the planet and sustainable. All of my candles are made with soy wax. Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The leftover bean husks are commonly used as animal feed. Soy's greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable. In addition to sustainability, a well-made soy candle will burn cleanly and slowly, much to the delight of my customers.

All Avander candles are packaged using recycled or recyclable materials. I include dried flower petals and seeds in my packaging too. Packaging you can plant!
